Artist Statement

My paintings explore the shifting narratives that define contemporary life, often juxtaposing historical references with imagery drawn from mass media and digital culture. I draw my subject matter from mass media, photography, and digital platforms, such as films, news articles and books on art history. I transform these references into images of a speculative futures that blur the boundaries between reality and fiction. Often, my compositions employ a central figure in a direct, one-on-one confrontation with the viewer, creating an encounter that is both intimate and psychologically charged.

Color is a fundamental element within my paintings. It is never merely descriptive but serves a deliberate purpose. By combining neon acrylic colours with oil paint, I merge the past and the present while unifying disparate elements and deepening the mystery of the work. This interplay of colour creates visual tension and unexpected connections, allowing different histories, materials, and meanings to coexist within the same space. Acting as both a bridge and an enigma, color shapes emotional resonance, reinforces ambiguity, and invites viewers into a contemplative dialogue where perception remains fluid and meaning is continually renegotiated.

The work does not offer fixed conclusions; instead, it invites contemplation of a world in which perception is increasingly mediated, reality is unstable, and meaning remains in constant flux.
